EASY GLOBE TUTORIAL

This tutorial was written using PSP 7 but can be done in other versions.

First of all you're going to need a few supplies to work with:

DOWNLOAD

Unzip the globe and sparkle to your tubes folder. Put the jpeg image in a folder where you will be saving your globe.

Well now that we have all that out of the way let's get started!

This is the only screen shot you should need - this globe is very simple. These are the tools you'll be using:

Find the picture you saved and open it in PSP.

Shift D to duplicate it

Close your original one

Now go to your selection tool

On your selection palette choose circle or elipse

Feather 0

Start at somewhere in the middle of the cat and draw an elipse or circle around the cat
Don't touch the edges of the frame

Edit - Copy

Edit - Paste as new image

Layers - New Raster Layer

Click on your tubes tool and find your globe and add it to your picture

Click on your deformation tool

Now drag it just around your picture - you don't want any background
And make sure there is no part of the grapic outside the globe

On your tool options box click apply

If you want to add a base make a new layer and drag it to the top and use your deformation tool to shape it around your globe.

On your layer palette click on layer 1

And then click on the things that look like 2 sheets of paper to add a new layer

You should have a layer 3 (if you added a base this will be layer 4) between 1 & 2

Make sure layer 3 or (4) is highlighted - this is the one you'll be putting the sparkles on

Shift D two times - you want two copies

Move 2 of them aside for now

Go to your tubes and find the sparkle
Set the scale at about 30

Now add sparkles to the first picture - don't get on the outside of the globe

Now go to your second picture and set your sparkle at about 40 add the sparkles

Now on the last picture I set my tube to 20 and add sparkles

Go to Layers - Merge - Merge VISIBLE

Do that on each picture

File - Save As - and save each one

DO NOT close your images or PSP in case you want to make changes...if you don't like your animation you can close
animation shop and go back to PSP and unmerge the layers on each pic and redo them

We'll resize in animation shop - not now or your animation will jump LOL

Open animation shop

First go over to your background color and make it a light rose or gray or if you will be putting it on a dark background use a dark color

Then click on animation wizard (should be the first icon)

Here's the settings I use:

Same size
Transparent
Centered in frame
With canvas color
Yes repeat
20
Add your images
Finish
Click play

But don't save it yet

Do you like what you see? Yes then follow the steps below -
No close animation shop and go back to PSP and make changes.

Close the animated one ONLY

Don't close the frames

Edit - Select All
Animation
Resize Animation

I resized the cat to about 50% - if there is too much blank canvas, while you still have the images selected, click on the crop tool and draw a box around your globe (a box should then appear around all the graphics) then click crop.

Now play it again

File - Save As

Name it - Save

I have the slider bar at the top - best

Click Customize

255 colors - optimized Median cut - error diffusion (all checked)

Click the optimizations tab - the middle 3 are checked

Click the partial transparancy

I have convert pixels less than 80

Yes blend with this color and it should be your gray color or your dark color

Ok - Next - Next

You should see your optimized animation (hopefully no jaggies)

Next

Finish and you're done :)
